If you’re like most people, you probably have OneDrive installed on your computer. If you don’t, it’s time to get started. OneDrive is a cloud-based storage service that lets you store files and photos online. You can access them from any device, whether it’s your desktop or a phone. One of the great things about OneDrive is that you can hide files and photos from the Windows 10 Photos app. This way, if someone tries to view your photos or videos using the Photos app, they won’t see any hidden files or photos. To hide files and photos in the Photos app, follow these steps:
- Open the Photos app and sign in with your account credentials.
- Click on the three lines in the top left corner of the main screen (or use one of the shortcut keys). This will show a list of all your folders and files in those folders.
- Scroll down to where you want to hidefiles and photos (usually under “Photos” in this list). If there are any other folders under “Photos,” they’ll also be hidden here too, but this is our focus for now.
- Click on one of the hidden files or photos to make it visible again (or use one of the shortcut keys).
In Windows 11, when you link your Microsoft account with your PC, the Photos app automatically shows the images from your OneDrive storage. If you’d like to hide these OneDrive images in Photos, you can. We’ll show you how.

Prevent the Photos App From Showing OneDrive Images
To hide OneDrive images in Photos, first, open the Photos app on your Windows 11 PC. Do this by opening the “Start” menu, searching for “Photos”, and clicking the app in the search results.
In the Photos app, at the top-right corner, click the three dots.
From the three-dots menu, select “Settings.”
Scroll the “Settings” screen down to the “Microsoft OneDrive” section. Here, toggle off the “Show My Cloud-Only Content From OneDrive” option.
And you’re all set. Photos will no longer display any images from your OneDrive storage. Your photo privacy is now in your own hands! If the Photos app continues to frustrate you, you can simply find a different app and set it as the default app for browsing images.
On Windows, did you know you can hide a file inside a picture? That’s a cool little trick that doesn’t even require a third-party app. You should check that out if you’re interested.
