If you’re like most people, you probably use your mail app to manage your calendar. But what if you want to create a calendar event from mail? You can do that on your iPhone or iPad. Here’s how:
- Open the mail app and find the email you want to create a calendar event from.
- Tap on the email to open it in the main view of the app.
- On the main view of the email, tap on the “Calendar” button in the top right corner of the screen.
- On the “Calendar” screen, tap on “Events.”
- On the “Events” screen, tap on “Add Event.”
- In the “Event Details” field, type in a name for your event and then tap on “Next.” Tap on “Location” if you want to set a location for your event and then tap on “Next.” If you don’t want to set a location, just tap on “No Location.” In addition, if you want people who are invited to be able to RSVP online, check off that box and then type in their email addresses in both fields next to their names (you can also type in phone numbers). Tap on “Create Event!” When you’re done creating your event, just tap on Done at the bottom of this screen and it will be added to your calendar! ..
The Mail app on iPhone and iPad includes Siri Intelligence technology which can automatically analyze a message on your device to find an appointment.
This feature works with both natural language, and the traditional date and time structure. For example, if you get an email that says, “Let’s meet for lunch this Saturday at 1 p.m.,” the Mail app recognizes the day of the week, the date, and time.

To create a calendar event, open the email with the appointment request in the Mail app on your iPhone or iPad. You see the date and time are underlined. You might also see a banner at the top of the email that says, “Siri found 1 event.”
Tap “Add” in the banner or tap the underlined text.
From the menu, tap “Create Event.”
The event creation screen slides up in the Mail app. If you tapped “Add,” you’ll see that Siri added a subject, and selected the time and date for you. If you tapped the underlined text, only the data from that text is added to the event.
You can add a location, change the duration, set alerts, send an invite to the event, or further edit the info any way you like.
When you’re satisfied with the event info, tap “Add.” This creates the event in your calendar, and you’re taken back to the email.
To make sure the event is on your calendar, open the Calendar app, select the week view, and then navigate to the day of the event.
If you use the Mail app to schedule work and/or personal events, this little trick can save you a lot of time.
Just tap the underlined text. Or, even better, let Siri analyze the whole message, and then just tap “Add” to create an event from the information in the email.
